Webflow is considered low-maintenance, and that’s true. There are no plugins that break the site after an update, no security vulnerabilities on your own server, and no PHP version that becomes outdated. Webflow handles hosting, SSL, CDN, and backups. If you run a Webflow website, you don’t have to worry about many of the things that are part of everyday life with WordPress.
Some people conclude from this that a Webflow website doesn’t need any maintenance at all after launch. That’s where the mistake lies. A website doesn’t just become outdated from a technical standpoint. It becomes outdated because of content that’s no longer accurate, search engines that change, new features that no one uses, and visitors whose behavior no one analyzes.
This article explains what Webflow handles for you and what it doesn't, what tasks need to be completed in the first 30 days after launch, what has changed with Webflow in 2026, and how Webflow support should be structured to ensure measurable improvements in traffic, inquiries, and revenue.
Key Points at a Glance
- Webflow hardly requires technical maintenance in the traditional sense. With Webflow, support primarily means ongoing development: SEO, load time, content, conversion, and visibility in AI searches.
- If the slug of a CMS entry changes, Webflow does not automatically create a redirect. This is one of the most common errors after launch.
- According to a Deloitte study, a mobile page that loaded 0.1 seconds faster resulted in an 8.4 percent increase in conversions in the retail sector.
- Webflow has updated its pricing plans as of May 2026. Existing websites will switch over at their next renewal.
- Effective support follows a set schedule: monthly check-ins, quarterly audits, and annual planning.
What Webflow Does for You—and What It Doesn't
The difference between maintenance and support becomes clearer when you compare the two side by side.
Webflow handles that automatically
- Hosting on an infrastructure with a global CDN
- SSL Certificates and Their Renewal
- Platform updates without having to install anything
- Backups and version history for each release
- Automatically generated sitemap and minification of CSS and JavaScript
That's up to you
- Content: Keep texts, references, prices, team pages, and blog posts up to date.
- SEO: Monitor rankings, create new pages for relevant search terms, and maintain redirects.
- Load time: Every new image, every new script, and every new animation affects performance.
- Tracking: Define goals, measure forms and conversions, and obtain consent correctly.
- Conversion: Find out why visitors aren't submitting inquiries, and take targeted steps to improve this.
- Visibility in AI Searches: Ensure that Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and other assistants can find your business and display it accurately.
Webflow itself puts it this way in its announcement for Webflow Conf 2026: Campaigns, AI-driven visibility, conversion optimization, and localization must be ongoing efforts, not just limited to launch.
The first 30 days after launch
Immediately after the go-live, it becomes clear whether the website will maintain its rankings and whether inquiries are coming through properly. These points should be addressed within the first month.
During the first 48 hours
- Submit all forms and verify that the notifications are reaching the correct people.
- Browse through the website on various devices and browsers, especially on older smartphones.
- Verify that indexing is enabled for the live domain and that the staging domain is not being indexed.
- Link to Google Search Console and submit the sitemap.
During the first 30 days
- When relaunching a site, check all old URLs for 301 redirects. Webflow manages them in Site Settings under "Publishing," and you can also import them via CSV.
- Monitor 404 errors in Search Console and set up any missing redirects.
- Establish a baseline for the key metrics: organic visitors, inquiries, conversion rate, Core Web Vitals. Without this baseline, it will be impossible to demonstrate progress later on.
- Train your own team to use the Webflow Editor so they can manage content without an agency.
Common Mistakes That Happen After Launch
Most problems don't arise at launch, but in the months that follow, when several people are working on the website.
- Slug Changes Without Redirects: For static pages, Webflow offers a redirect when you change the URL. For CMS entries such as blog posts or testimonials, the editor only displays a warning. Someone must set up the redirect manually. If this isn't done, rankings and backlinks will be lost.
- Uncompressed images: A photo straight from the camera can be several megabytes in size. Webflow offers the option to convert images to WebP and AVIF in the Assets panel. This process replaces the originals, so you should back them up first.
- New scripts in the head section: Chat widgets, tracking pixels, and booking tools are quickly added and rarely removed. Each one adds to the page load time.
- Missing SEO fields in the CMS: New entries without their own page titles, meta descriptions, or alt text for images.
- Outdated Content: A blog post from 2023 that mentions prices, laws, or tools that no longer exist can harm your credibility and search rankings.
What's Changed at Webflow in 2025 and 2026
Webflow has changed significantly in recent months. Some of the new features affect every website, while others are opportunities that go unused if no one pays attention to them.
New Rates Effective May 2026
On May 13, 2026, Webflow updated its site plans. The previous CMS and Business plans were combined into the Premium plan. According to the information we have, it costs $25 per month when paid annually and includes, among other things, 20,000 CMS entries and 50 GB of bandwidth. Existing websites will switch to the new plan upon their next renewal. Additionally, starting June 29, 2026, AI features will be billed using a quota of AI Credits. Anyone who previously had the Business plan with more bandwidth should check before renewal to see if the new plan is sufficient. Current prices are available at webflow.com/pricing.
GSAP is free
Webflow has acquired the GSAP animation library and made it completely free in 2025, including the plugins that were previously paid. This allows for more precise implementation of animations. At the same time, every animation must be loaded. Webflow now lets you control where the code for interactions is loaded. This is a key factor in load time.
Analyze and Optimize
Webflow Analyze provides a built-in web analytics tool right within Webflow, which—since Webflow Conf 2025—also tracks visitors from AI sources. Webflow Optimize enables A/B testing and personalization without the need for an external tool. Older articles often claim that Webflow doesn’t support A/B testing. That’s no longer true. Both features are paid add-ons and support consent modes for the cookie banner.
AI Features and AEO
Webflow now uses AI to suggest alt text, metadata, and Schema markup. Since May 2026, Webflow AEO has been available—a tool that tracks how often a brand is mentioned in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. However, it is only available to Enterprise customers. At Webflow Conf in September 2026, additional features were announced, including Campaigns for landing pages with variants and Releases for working with branches.
Why Regular Support Improves the Numbers
Support is only worth the money if it produces measurable results. The data on this is clear.
Page load time drives revenue and leads
- According to the study “Milliseconds Make Millions” conducted by Deloitte on behalf of Google, a mobile page that loaded 0.1 seconds faster resulted in 8.4 percent more conversions in the retail sector and 10.1 percent more in the travel sector.
- In an A/B test, Vodafone improved its Largest Contentful Paint by 31 percent, resulting in an 8 percent increase in sales.
- Portent found that B2B websites with a load time of one second convert three times as well as those with a load time of five seconds.
Google uses Core Web Vitals for its evaluation. Good metrics include a Largest Contentful Paint under 2.5 seconds, an Interaction to Next Paint under 200 milliseconds, and a Cumulative Layout Shift under 0.1. In March 2024, Interaction to Next Paint replaced the previous metric, First Input Delay. Anyone who still sees FID in audits is working with outdated information.
Updated content ranks higher
In a widely cited case study, HubSpot systematically revised older blog posts. The updated posts generated, on average, 106 percent more organic traffic and more than twice as many leads. Although these figures are a few years old, the principle still holds true: Improving existing pages is often more effective than constantly writing new ones.
AI Searches Are Changing Click Patterns
Since March 2025, Google has been displaying AI summaries in Germany, and since October 2025, it has also been offering AI mode in German. According to a Pew Research Center survey, users click on a search result only 8 percent of the time when an AI summary appears, compared to 15 percent when no summary is shown. Ahrefs has measured a 58 percent lower click-through rate for the top result in search queries with an AI summary.
What helps? Google clearly states in its guide to optimizing for generative AI features: These features are based on the same ranking systems as regular search. Good search engine optimization remains the foundation. Google requires content that offers a unique perspective and genuine experience rather than generic, interchangeable text. According to the same guide, an llms.txt file—which can be uploaded in Webflow via the SEO settings—is neither positively nor negatively factored into Google Search results. Read more about this in our article “AI SEO for Websites.”
The frequency of support: monthly, quarterly, annually
A checklist for launch day isn't enough. A consistent routine has proven to be effective.
Monthly
- Check Core Web Vitals and error reports in Search Console
- Analyze 404 Errors and Set Up Redirects
- Test forms and compare incoming inquiries with tracking data
- Check new CMS entries for SEO fields, alt text, and image sizes
- Summarize Key Metrics: Visitors, Inquiries, Rankings, Load Time
Quarterly
- SEO and Content Audit: Which pages are losing rankings, and which keywords are still missing?
- Update existing content that attracts visitors but is out of date
- Conversion Review: Where do visitors drop off, and which page generates the most inquiries?
- Clean up scripts, interactions, and unused styles
- Randomly check visibility in AI searches
- Check that required legal disclosures are up to date. You can find out what this entails in our article on the legal requirements for Webflow websites.
Annually
- Check Webflow Plans, Seats, and Bandwidth
- Plan for larger-scale expansions: new performance pages, landing pages, multilingual support
- Bring the design and components up to the brand's current standards
How much does Webflow support cost?
The ongoing costs of a Webflow website consist of two parts: the fees paid to Webflow and the support provided by an agency or your own team.
Webflow fees depend on the Site Plan, Workspace seats, and add-ons such as Analyze, Optimize, or Localization. For a typical business website with a CMS, they amount to a few hundred euros per year.
The level of support depends on the goal. A website that simply needs to stay up-to-date and error-free requires just a few hours per month. A website designed to generate more leads requires additional time for SEO, content, analysis, and testing. German agencies offer small support packages starting at around 100 euros per month. Packages that include regular SEO and conversion optimization work typically start in the low four-digit range.
The better question is what an additional inquiry is worth. If a B2B website generates 20 inquiries per month and one in five turns into an order worth 10,000 euros, then each additional inquiry is worth an average of 2,000 euros. Even a small improvement in the conversion rate quickly pays off.
How to Tell If You're Getting Good Webflow Support
- The website belongs to you. The site is hosted in your own Webflow workspace, and the agency works as a guest. That way, you're never dependent on a service provider.
- Clear response times. There are established guidelines for how quickly to respond to a system failure and how quickly to respond to a text change.
- Reporting with key metrics. You don't just get a list of completed tasks—you can also see how visitor numbers, rankings, and inquiries are trending.
- A dedicated point of contact who knows your website and your business.
- Reasonable contract terms. Short notice periods show that an agency is focused on results.
- Documentation. Components, classes, and CMS structures are designed so that others can work with them as well. Our article on component-based architecture in Webflow shows how this works in practice.
Do it yourself or hire an agency?
A marketing team can handle many tasks on its own if the website is well-structured: publishing blog posts, editing text, adding new testimonials, and putting together landing pages using existing components. The Webflow Editor is all you need for this.
An agency is worth it for anything that requires experience and a broad perspective: technical SEO, load time, new components, tracking, testing, and determining which next step will have the greatest impact. In practice, a hybrid approach usually works best. The team manages the content, while the agency handles the technical aspects and growth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Webflow Support
Does a Webflow website even need maintenance?
Technical maintenance—such as plugin or server updates—isn’t necessary with Webflow. However, every website that’s meant to attract new customers needs ongoing support in areas like SEO, content, load time, and conversion.
How much does it cost per month to maintain a Webflow website?
Basic maintenance and troubleshooting packages start at around 100 euros per month. Maintenance that includes regular SEO and conversion optimization work typically costs in the low four-digit range. Webflow fees are additional.
Can I maintain my Webflow website myself?
Yes. In the Webflow Editor, you can edit text, images, and CMS content without any programming knowledge. This requires a clean structure with well-defined components and CMS structures.
How do I set up a redirect in Webflow?
In the Site Settings under "Publishing," you can create 301 redirects individually or via CSV. Important: For CMS entries, Webflow does not automatically create a redirect when you change the slug.
Do I need an llms.txt file for my Webflow website?
It’s easy to upload in Webflow and won’t do any harm. However, according to Google, it isn’t taken into account by Google Search. What’s more important for AI searches is good content, a clear structure, and a strong brand.
Can I switch agencies?
Yes, if the website is in your own workspace. In that case, you can simply invite a new agency as a guest. That's how it's set up with us from the start.
