Hallerstede, a long-established company based in Oldenburg, had been operating its online business for a long time under the sub-brand Kofferworld. Since the name Kofferworld limited the product range too much and made it difficult to differentiate the brand from the competition, the entire online presence was to be unified under the main Hallerstede brand. The goal was to create a brand image that reflects the company’s 175 years of expertise in the specialty retail sector for leather goods, school bags, and luggage—consistently across both the brick-and-mortar store and the online shop.
Our solution:
The technical foundation is a Shopify 2.0 setup that has been specifically tailored to the needs of a specialty retailer:
- Custom Theme: A custom design that emphasizes product details, such as the display of sizes and measurements, as well as integrated upsell features.
- Functional enhancements: Integration of a custom rating system, a wish list, and specific delivery logic.
- Content Management: Thanks to the Shopify 2.0 architecture, the team can build landing pages as well as product and category pages independently and in a modular fashion.
- Internationalization: Preparation and implementation of multi-market sales for various European countries.

Ample white space gives the design a sense of lightness and breathing room, allowing the content to shine without ever feeling cluttered.

The main focus was on developing a mobile-optimized website, as the target group is predominantly on smartphones. This ensured a smooth and appealing user experience on mobile devices.
